United Prc-as As9oei*tio_— By Efcctrio Teksg—-ph—Copyrigh t. DARING BANK SWINDLE. LONDON, September 28. A daring bank swindle is reported to have taken place here. Word was received at the Harlesden branch of the London and Southwestern Bank intimating tho transfer thence of £750 belonging to a customer received ot the Catford branch. An account was forthwith opened, and the isupposed customer withdrew £290 and*.departed in an automobile to repeat the same operation at seven other branches, each of which received similar notice. The total swindle amounted to £2320.

TILAK'S SENTENCE. CALCUTTA, September 23 The newspaper "Pioneer" states that the commutation of Tilak's sentence was due to Lord Morlev's pressure. THE GERMAN NAVY.
