United Prc-as As9oei*tio_— By Efcctrio Teksg—-ph—Copyrigh t. DARING BANK SWINDLE. LONDON, September 28. A daring bank swindle is reported to have taken place here. Word was received at the Harlesden branch of the London and Southwestern Bank intimating tho transfer thence of £750 belonging to a customer received ot the Catford branch. An account was forthwith opened, and the isupposed customer withdrew £290 and*.departed in an automobile to repeat the same operation at seven other branches, each of which received similar notice. The total swindle amounted to £2320.
TILAK'S SENTENCE. CALCUTTA, September 23 The newspaper "Pioneer" states that the commutation of Tilak's sentence was due to Lord Morlev's pressure. THE GERMAN NAVY. (Received September 29th, 10.56 p.m.) BERLIN, September 29. The German Navy League have issuod a manifesto demanding six now large armoured cruisers to replace the six which in tho ordinary way would not be replaced until from 1914 to 1919.
A SPLENDID BEQUEST. Herr Samson, formerly a banker in Berlin, bequeathed £1,600,000 to the Academy of Sciences in this city.
ALBERTI'S FRAUDS. LONDON, September 29. It is believed that Alberti, the defalcating Danish Minister, saved much money, which, he lodged in foreign banks.
