The annual meeting of tho subscribers to the Marshlands Public Hall last evening was characterised by much breeziness, and accusation- and recriminations were freely indulged in. Mr Geo. In his opinion tho trustees, could override th© Management Committee. That,'h© said, was the lawyer's ruling/ The Chairman (emphatically): I don'tv car© what tho lawyer's ruling is. I rule otherwise. This he declined to do, and the motion •was therefor© put and carried by ,ai large majority. Matters again grew very heated after the chairman intimated that the election of the management committee would bo proceeded with. Mr -Morris nominated Mr Gcode, but tho chairman protested, contending that as Mr Goodo was ono of the trustees (who had already nominated three members of tho committee) he was ; not, in the terms of the deed of trust, eligible for nomination as a subscriber. The chairman, in spite of Mr Morris's protests, refused to accept the nomination, and Mr Morris thereupon hurled a decidedly unparliamentary epithet at him. Tho Chairman: I demand that you apologise for those words. Sir, Morris: You'll wait a long time for my apology. 'Mr Goode then rose to his feet, maintaining that ho was eligible for fioniination. The Chairman: I'm taking this meetin..—not you I Mr Goode: Yon aro for tho timo being. The Chairman: I'll stop here tdl this meeting is finished.
