'Mr. Dickio Jntimatedi to tho meeting. that ho was standing as a straight-out porter of the present Government.-' Mr A. Murray was voted to the chair, and. tho following gentlemen wero' ejected! a committee:—Messrs G. Stockdill, W. Sfcockdill, Geo. - ichard, 3. Brawiey, W. Moore, P. Maguire and ,D. McKendry. The' candidate proposes addressing tho electors at the varioijs centres in tho electorate, commencing in about two weeks. Dr. Thackerhas definitely announced himself as a candidate for tho Lyttelton seat at tho forthcoming' general election. He will address - the electors at; .a nearly date. Mr Forbes, who is a candidate for the HuruQui seat, will address the electors at Amberley to-morrow night. Mr W. R. Smith will address the electors of Avon at Richmond schoo. to-morrow night, New Brighton, oa Wednesday, Biomley oii Thursday and Burwood on Friday.
