RAINFALL STATISTICS.

The rainfall at Balmoral station, north of the Hurunui, for June last, was 2.63 inohos, and for the fhjjt ten days of July 4.82 inches. The total July rainfall for the last tew years has been:—l9oo, 2.34 in; 1901, 3.15 in; 1902, .38in: 1903, 3.53 in; 1904, 2.51 in; 1905, 2.45 in; 1906, 3.26 in; 1907, 2.58 in. Prom this., it will be seen that the recent rainfall was abnormal, though in March, 1902, it reached 9.29 in, and in October, 1900, and September, 1907, there were falls of over 7 inches for each of these months.

The rainfall "at East Oxford for June wa3 1.87 in: . The fall for the first eight days of July was 3.37 in. At "The Downs," Bennetts, the rainfall for the first nine days of the present month was 5.17 in. The rain gauge at Glenmark, north of the Waipara river, for the- first eight days of this month registered 2.57 in.

The return of the rainfall kept at Kaiwarra station, Culverden, showed a total of 1.49 in for June, and for the first ten days of July w.o6in, but no severe floods took place. The heaviest fall was on the 10th when 1.77 in was registered for 24 hours. On tho Bth there was 3 inches of enow on the ground.

TIMARU, July 14. Reports from the Mackenzie Country •how that the north side is heavily, clad with snow. There is about 3ft at Burkes Pas 3 and 4ft at Tekapo.. The weather was cold to-day, and rain fell heavily again at Timaru to-night.'
