AUSTRALASIAN RULES. WELLINGTON v. CANTERBURY.

The annual interprovincial match under Australasian rules between Canterbury and Wellington, was played at Miramar, Wellington, on Saturday. The ground was very rough, and altogether against a good display of this spectacular game. The home team won the toss, and took advantage of the wind. When play opened the local team got possession, and soon had their opponents busy defending. Notwithstanding the visitors' sturdy backs. Wellington held tho upper hand throughout the quarter, and had four goal* to their credit at the change of ends. In the second quarter Canterbury made some very determined and weli-cnncorted rushes, in which West, Wr glu, Ross, and Paisley were conspicuous. Tlie visitors continued to wipe oil" their deficit right up to half-time, when the scores stood :— Wellington o goals 5 bchinds, Canterbury o goals 4 behind?. When play was resumed Canterbury were soon pressing their opponents' goal, where Ross secured, and landed a"«oal from a difficult angle, a similar >core being made by We«t, Wilkins, Wright and Stammers. This practically nut the issue beyond doubt. The last quarter was at times exciting, but Canterbury maintained their advantage, and ran out winners by 13 points, the scores being:—Canterbury, li.' goals 9 belnnds; Wellington, 8 goals 8 hehinds.
