Mr A. Cracroft Wilson, whose health we regret to hear is in an unsatisfactory condition, has resigned the position of Registrar of Canterbury College. Mr Wilson has held the position of Registrar since January, 189 L Lieuten_nt_C.lo_el Hawkins arrived in Christchureh from Waimate last night. Mr R. Beaton Riodes, M.P., Mr C. M. Gray, M.P., Mr'J. B. At St. Michael's Church on Wednesday, tho marriage was solemnised by Archdeacon Averill bo-ween Mr Hare«d Soown, of Timaru, and Miss Mabel Blick, second daughter of Mrs J. J. Sinclair, of this city. The wedding w-is a** very quiet one. The bridesmaids were Miss Blick and Miss Elsie Scown. Mr A. A. Mair, who for some years has held tho posrtion of second clerk at the Magistrate'sOourt, has been transferred to Oamaru. Yesterday Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., after congratulating Mr Mair on his promotion, and ec-pressing regret that he was leaving Christchureh, presented him, on behalf of tho staff, with a handsome shaving outfit. Mr Mair leaves for the South today to take up his new duties. Captain Meikleham arrived from the North yesterday. MissM. Watson has been selected by lite co___itfcee for the position of assistant mistress at the Sydenham school. Mr and Mrs J. Jowers, of Kaiapoi, ye_tord_y celebrated their golden wedding, having been married in 1858 a+ Little Bromley, Essex, England. They held a family gathering of their descendants.
