MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr H. W. Bishop. S.M., presided at the Ma_i_-r_te's Court yesterday. Annie Eraser, a third offender, for drunkenness, was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour. Robert Hughes was charged with being drank while in cha-rge of a horse and trap. The police stated that the man was in tho Hospital nt present as the i-rM<li of injuries received in am accident on Saturday night. The llagastratt- adjourned the case till J uno 'jtli. James Bell, cliarged with haying committed a grossly indecent act In a public plat*, was oonvi_ted and dis<barged. lukerman Berry was fined lOfe and costs; in default 14 days' imprisonment for breaking four panes of glass, valued at 12s 6d, the, property of Wm. Tozer. Wm. Harne (Mr Hunt). 16 years of age, was charged with having stolen a quantity of rubber and a number of teeth, valued at £3, the property of Dr. Pritchard Jones. Mr Hunt said tl*a.t tiie boy was em-ployed by Dr. Jones, and niter stealing tlto artioles lie tried to sell them to another dentist, who informed the police. Tiie Magistrate said he wouia give ac-used imother chance, a.-id fined him 20s and costs: in delault 11 days' imprisonment. Ernest Edgar Cohen waa charged with having failed to provide for the future maintenance of an unborn illfigirtirnate child, of which lit was alleged to be the father. He admitted paternity and stated til-si ho had a.lways been willing to do his best for complainant. Mr Bcaittie, who approved for the complainant, asked leave to withdraw the information, and this was granted.
