ROAD BOARDS.
._______! : RICCARTON. The last meeting of the Riccarton Road Board was attended by Messrs A. Buckley. "Staples, X. D. Bong, WFin-.: "and FrSiaeon. Mr Boag moved that Mr Sisson take tho chair. Mr Sisson declined th© honour with thanks, being unable to devote the necessary time to the work. Mr Buckley moved that Mr Boag be elected chairman. This was second©-. i>y Mr Fine, and carried. The Selwyn County Council wrote ordering that a -ate of 1-24 of a penny in th© £ be made a_d levied, for the destruction of small birds; also striking an __<*6*pita_ and Charitable Aid rat© of 7-64 of a penny in the £. Th© South Waimakariri River Board wrote striking a rate of _-u4 of a penny in the £. __*© Railway Dopartment wrote forwarddng a pliui of propc_ed diversion at Lowe-street, Addington, The •Beard approved of the same-provided the new road! along the saleyards property be made 100 links wide, cieair of th© drain, and that a substantial fence be erocted alongside of the drain, the now road to be formed, metalled, and' channelled to the Board's satisfaction. Mr It. Verran wrote, resigning his position as over_eor to th© Board, which he had' held for 29 years. The resignation was accepted with regret, and AT? F. G. Harris was appointed to th© position. Accountwero passed for payment amounting to £4_>l 9s 6d. A petition was recoivcd from residents of Papanui, requesting th© Board' to have the old building shifted into the district pulled down.
