ACCIDENT ON A BATTLESHIP.
On the battleship Britfcania, while voyaging from Queensforry to Portsmouth, a boiler tube burst, eerdously injuring five men.
The Attentive was in trouble with a dostroyrr last year, when she rammed the Quail during night manaauvres, and cut olf 40 feet of her bow. The rest of the destroyer was towed to port, and there were no casualties, though some of the crew had marvellous escapes. Vessels of the scout class, to winch the Attentive belongs, aro a necting link between the destroyer and the cruiser. They are fasteV than cruisers, but. not so fast as destroyers. The tonnage of the Attentive is 2940, and her average speed in trials 25.88 ku-ots. She has attained a speed of 2ti\ knots, and is tho fastest vessel of her class in the world. This class has been criticised on tho grounds that their duties could be performed as well in the narrow seas by the cheaper destroyer and better on the high seas by the bettor-armed cruiser.
