. Tho annual meeting of parishioners oi St. John's, Latimer square, held on Thursday evening, was well attended, tho, vicar (tho l<.iv. Harold Purchas) presiding. Tho chairman, in outlining the work of tho. year, stated that in spite of tho spirit of "suburbanism ,, a).road, drawing people away from tho city pari--h(\s, there had been a satisfacy tory increase in membership all round. :. Ho stated that before Ion" it was hoped 0 U> make all sittings in the church free, to undertake repairs to the organ dur- ., ing tho coming ve:ir, and to paint the vicarage alter that. Tho annual report stated that not only had all liabilis .ties b-eon mot during tho year, but a c small credit balance remained. The v congregations at the evening services 1 were steadily increasing, and tho outlook for tho future both spiritually and s financially was brighter than for many 7 years past. Tho balance-sheet showed receipts 1 amounting to £43!) os od and expendi- '' turo to £'-13-5 ISs 10d, leaving a credit balance of £3 6s 7d.
