ROWING ASSOCIATION*
Tin- committee of the Canterbury J.nv.ing Association met last night, when Mr J. R. Morrison presided. 'I hero were also present Messrs F. 1). i\e.steven, F. M.cCullough, J. MeCona ihu-.H. Berry, aud li. H. Smith (h<. n cvicrotary).
Mr Kestevon gave notice of motion to alter the rule relating to stump o-ut-nr'fL'rs in the direction of insert in a -iiu> word ysculiiag" before the word "•ontrigger' in the clause '-length ot <mtrigger not to exceed ten inches." and <jt adding a clause that the length <>i outrigger shotiltl not exceed fourteen inches. Mr Kesteven explained that his object was to encourage tJin adoption ot the up-to-date centra.! position of the men in the boat.
Mr Kestevon brought up.the question of the registration of club roiours, "and said that t-he Association ini:rht write to the Council at Wellington 6uagoetins that the Canterbury A-ssociartion should draw up a scheme covering the whole matter of club colours and their registration. _ The. Chairman said it was essential $iat eatih club should have different Co-Jours. He moved:—"That the Council of the New Zealnnd Rowing Association diould be requested to depute thmr power as to the' fixing of club coloure to tile Canterbury IJowing Association, any information relative to tJjo priority of adaption of tho same oojours to be forwarded to the Canterbury Association." v.The motion was seconded by Mr Kostovon.
..•Mr Smith that iho Cantcr-bu-y Association should draw up a sot "of club colour rules and ask the Council to adopt the rules. Provision could be made in the rules that each club must have a different colour, ami thai, each club should be required to register ite colours within a certain time, present clashing to bo decided according to fhe date of constitution of the clubs affected. A. sub-committee, consisting or the fliairmaji, tho secretary (Mr H. H. Smith). a.nd Mr Kestevon. was appoiuted to draw up a set cf rules dealing with the matter. Mr Kest-even said thnt tho local c-lnbs had all difttinctivo colours, but oilif-r filubs outside had adopted simil:w colours, aoid gTcr.t confusion was viiused at regattas. After further discussion, a motion was oorried requesting the Council to fonvnrd all information available relating to the existing club colours.
In tho coureo of a conversation vrith a representative of the "Povcrtv Bay llrrn'kl," Webb, the world's champion R-ulior. remarked thoro w«ro no new developments respectinp the, challenge.
