The Lvttelton Borough Council met last nigHt. Presen*: — TOie Mayor (Mr fc>. R. Webb), Councillors F. J. Page, AV r . Raxlclaii©, W. T. Foster, M. J. Miller, F. W. Anderson, J. R. Webb, C. Cook and N. C. Schumacher.

A letter wa3 received from the Lyttelton Club Sports Comma bbeo asking for the use of tihe recreation ground at Officers' Point for a sports meeting to be hold on May 25th, aaid also asking the Council to re-cinder amd roll the track. Tho letter was referred to the Works Committee with power to act.

The Gha-riteble Aid Board wrote asking the Council to afford tho Board the benefit of the advice of the Borough Foreman of Works in connection with the proposed construction of a retai-ning wai!l at the old orpiuamiage aite, West Lyttelton. It was decided to allow tihe foreman of works to advise "bhe Board unofficially as to the nature of the wall, but not to take ivny responsibility in the maitter.

Tlie IJstates Committee, in its report, recommepdied thaifc hockey dubs d<«irous of using tho' "West Lyttelton Recreation Ground should arrange nmongsi themselves as to the us© of the ground, in order to avoM any cl sishing of fixtures. The report was adopted.
