4 (fbess association telzg&aji). AUCKLAND, January 7. The Auckland Presbvtcry to-night returned to the subject of Sunday observance, and some wholesale condemnations of oonrnion practices were made. Tbo committee set up to consider tho matter submitted a report in which it was claimed that tho principles of the Church were flagraaitly violated by the holding oai Sundays of fosbing and pleasure excursions, ant? cycle rung, and by Sunday travelling by boat, train, iram, and ! bus. It was contondod that Boores of men were being lost to Chrietiajiity by the utter neglect of Sunday worship on account of the fimt-nami'd pastime, that the. use of all iboats in tho ferry service on Sunday ought to be discontinued by Christians, and that they should not travel by tho trams on Sunday. The committee also expressed a dosiro to see an end put to unnecessary work in minrs. factories, and mills on Sunday, and had a word to say about Sunday gardening and domestic work an tho samo day. Suggestions of t-lio committee "were, after discussion, adopted, requesting the. co-operation of other Churches in the matter, deciding to issuo a circular to office-beare-rs, etc.. and providing for the preaching of special sermons on the subject.
