The "Daily News," referring to the Asiatic difficulty, says that it is much more Urgent that tho colonies should assist in defining the status of a British citizen, than dream that they will be able to find in trade, or in Imperial defence, a basis of Imperial unity. The "Manchester Guardian" uc~ares that Lord Elgin is powerless to modify the policy underlying the Transvaal registration law. It is impossible to disallow a lew .without imperilling even gireaitcir interests than those of the Indian immigrants.
