SeJwyn Bruce, J.P.'e.) •Millicent Stinlborough, a third offender for drunkenness, «•» sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment. Mary Parker, who w«a found without lawful excuse on the premises of J. Brake, St. Aeaph street, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. Thomas McMillan, for whom Mr Donnelly appeared, wae charged with being a rogue and a vagabond, in that he imposed on Ellen Madden, by false representation, with a view to obtaining lodgings. Station Sergeant Johnston applied for a remand till Tuesday, which wae granted.

(Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Donald Mathieeon was charged with drunkenncesj breach of a prohibition ordor, and with being an habitual drunkard. Accused pleaded guiltyj and the Magistrate inflicted a fine of 20e- and coirte for drunkenness, and 40s, in default one month's imprisonment, for breach of a prohibition order. Hβ wae informed that if ho came up again, he would certainly be sent to the Samaritan Homo for two years. Mary McKegney, charged #th breath of c. prohibition order for the second time this week, askea for another chance. Tbo Magistrate said he would give her another opportunity to Teform. She would be convicted and discharged on this occasion.

The Inspector of Factories (Mr W. H. Haggar) charged Peter Helmling (manager of the Victoria Brewery) with failing to report an accident, which occurred to an employee named Hutohings on October 28th. It appears that Hutohings met with an accident to hie foot. He had to go home, and later died. The case was adijourned in order to obtain medical evidence, to ascertain whether the accident was the cause of <ieath.

The mother of an illegitimate child applied for a remission of arrears due by her for the support of an illegitimate child. The Magistrate said she should take proceedings against the father of the child, but the applicant refused to adopt this oourse, and the application was dismissed. John Sneddon (Mr Cassidy) was charged with failing to provide maintenance for his daughter, an inmate of a Wellington reformatory. After hearing evidence as to defendant's financial position, Ll i« Magistrate remitted the arrears to date.
