The la. t meeting of tlie Halswell Road Board was attended by all the members. Tho chairman reported that ho had convened a public meeting of ratepayer- at the .schoolroom at Halswell to consider matters in connection with the proposed tramway to the Halswell Quarries, at wliich it way decided that the Board be asked to take the necessary steps to bring the balance of the district into the tramway area and carry out the propo.od line. It was resolved that the chairman and Mr Witfjrock form a committee to carry out the resolution. Tlie clerk reported that the upper bridge on tne Duntord's \ alley road had been broken down by a traction engine enrtinc fitone, and that under by-law 19 ti■«. person causing the damage must paY Vo- nf* W"*. which amounted to i-j.
