THE DUNLOP ROAD RACE.
TO THE EDITOK OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —Permit mc, Mr Editor, to endorse the remarks so ably put forth by "Cyclist" in your issue of the 26th inst.. with reference to the application of H. E. Mehrtons for the removal of his disqualification (which I understand has hut a few months to run) in order to allow him to defend the title he so meritoriously gained in last year's Warrnambool to Melbourne Rood Race. He provided the colony with a splendid advertisement, and ho deserves every consideration at tho hands of the colony, and more particularly so at the hands of those whoso first aim should be to do justice to those who render such splendid service to tho sport as did this particular rider in last year's Australasian championship. I consider the League's action most unEnglish and unsportsmanlike, and although it is apparently too late to tret this conservative body to re-consider its decision, I would liko to assure Mehrtens that he has the svmpnthy of a very largo portion of tho sporting community.—Yours, etc.,
ANOTHER CYCLIST, August 26th, 1007.
