The Ash burton market report for the week ending August 30th, is as follows: —Wheat—Owing to beiter rep_rt. of the London market, there has been slightly better enquiry for all descriptions of milling wheat, but beyond asKing for samples and quotations, no sales have vet been reported, and in mos. cases buyers' replies have been tbr quotations are so much above their ideas of value that business was impossible. At the same time, holders are in no way put out through failure to sell at the present moment, and are firm in their belief that higher rate, will yet be obtained tor their grain. Meanwhile they are asking 4s 3d to 4s 4d for Tuscan "and Pearl, while buyers limits are 4s 2d for best quality; ono penny less for Hunters. Oats—The usual hand _o-mouth retail business is being transacted, but nothing further has been done for «ome time past. Stores have now some difficulty in supplying needs for local demand, but, on the other hand, some farmers having heavy crops in stack, are electing to thresh in place of cutting into chafi and this prevents any shortage being felt. Prices remain unaltered, 36 to 3s Id being general rate for feed oats, with seed threepence to fourpence' per bushel in advance. The sale is reported of a line of 500 sacks good Cartons at 36, ex store. Oatsheaff chaff—There has been an easier feeling in the South and orders have not come forward so freely as they did before the beneficial rains last week. At the same time, a large quantity will be required before thero is enough green feed \o take its plac* A fairly large quantn.. still remains in the district, and shouk supply the local wants up to nest harvest. Meanwhile, price- are still at _ 5s at country stations, for prime heav\ oatsheaff chaff.
