VENEZUELA'S OBLIGATIONS. BRUSSELS, August 28. Venezuela has agreed to accept the Haguo Tribunal's award, condemning
her to pay £400,000 to Belgian creditors.
[When.the last mail left London Belgium was in rather a quandary about this debt, Venezuela having relused to comply with tho order of tho Heguo Court. The Belgian Foreign Minister said there was no appeal against the award, and the cause of arbitration would seriously suffer if it were not executed.]

George Christioh, the natural eon of the lato King Milan, of Sorvia, attempted to commit suicide in Constantinople because he was not allowed to assume tho name of Obrenovitch.

OTTAWA, August 28., The Canadian Food Inspection law is now operative. THE SUGAR CONVENTION. (Received August 29th, 11 p.m.) LONDON, August 29. An additional Act to the Sugar Convention has been signed at Brussels. It prolongs the Union for five years, from September Ist, 1908, and relieves Great Britain from that date from the obligation of penalising bountyfed sugar, but safeguards are provided to prevent the re-exportation of bounty-fed sugar. THE DISASTER TO THE COMMONWEALTH. The whole of the battleship Commonwealth's doußle bottoms were found to be flooded with water , , resulting in the spoiling of 400 tons of oil fuel. GERMAN SOUTH-WEST AFRICA. CAPETOWN, August 29. Eight Hottentots, apparently belonging to Reitfontein, attacked a German patrol near Blumpuetz, wounding a corporal. The chief Morenga, who recently crossed into Gorman South-West Africa, has returned to British territory. OUTBREAK OF SMALL-POX. VIENNA, August 29. An alarming outbreak of small-pox is reported in the city. The free vaccination stations are beseiged with persons seeking vaccination. THE GUIANA FRONTIER INCIDENT. (Received August 30th, 12.17 a.m.) GEORGETOWN, August 29. The Governor of British Guiana has expressed to the President of Venezuela his regret at Captain Calder's recent violation of the frontier, and has stated that the seised rubber -will be returned to the owner.
