CASUALTIES.
. # At the inquest held before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., yesterday, on the ' body of Mrs Magdalene Anderson, who died suddenly at her residence in Mateon street, Sydenham, on Wednesday evening, Dr. R. W. Anderson deposed that in response to a summons, he had «u!ed at tho home, but found Mns Anderson was quite dead. A post-mortem examination of the body had revealed' that the heart was about 50 per cent. ■ larger than normal and very fatty, ami death was due to carfiac syncope .caused by fatty degeneration of tho organ. The jury's verdict was in noooroMjee with the medical testimony. (tßiaa ASSOCIATION TELKQR.UI.) WELLINGTON, July 25. • . At an inquost to-day on tho body of James McLirenory, who was found hanging to a tree yesterday *t Newtown Park, a verdict of suicide whilst insane was returned. The widow of the deceased i gave evidence that since losing hie employment as a labourer under the City Ccraiual, he had been very despondent. Efforts to get him reinstated had wiled. McEirenery had a family of eight children. DUNEDIN, July 25. William Brown, single, 28 years of •go, was killed this morning by a fall of earth at the Theological College v excavations in the Valley, lie -was thrown on a spade and his throat was cut. Steven Whelan, married, 52 years of age, was also injured, Mid two others were slightly hurt.
