TRAMWAY ACCIDENT.
COLLISION IN WORCESTER STREET. A startling tramway collision occurred in Worcester 6trect yesterday, by which a steam motor and an electric car were considerably knocked about. Tlio Linwood-Woolston tram, leaving Aldwin's road at 9.26, and the steam tram for Burwood, leaving tho Square at 9.30, usually cross opposite the Christchurch bowling green, Worcester street, but for some reason, the Burwood tram was not up to time, and the electric oar proceeded on its journey,, the intention of the motornian evidently being to cross the steam tram at the Manchester street loop. Just after the electric oar had pas_od Barbacloes street, -tit* steam -tram oould be seen through the mist approaching at considerable Speed. The electrio oar was brought to a standstill, but owing to the greasy state of the. rails, the steam tram could not be pulled up in time, and it crashed into the electrio car with groat force.
