A "SPECIALIST" ARRESTED.
• CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. William Stenton, "specialist, ,, was arrested at Hoatheote on Saturday evening by Detective Bishop and Act-ing-Detective Kennedy, on the following charge in the month of April, 1907. at Christchurch, ho was giiiltv of the crime of manslaughter, in that while administering medical treotmont to one John Joseph Greaney he did fail to have aud to use reasonable knowledge, skill, and care in such treatment and did thereby cause the death of tho said John Joseph Greaney." Soon after his arrival at the Police Station the accused was released on bail, consisting of two sureties of £100 each and his own recognisance of £100. The charge was laid as the result of the verdict given by the Coroner's jury at an inquest held in April last, touching tho death of John Josoph Greaney, « youth of eighteen years. The verdict was as follows:—"That deceased's death was duo diphthoria, accelerated by the treatment adopted by Mr Wtanton." The accused will come before tho Court this morning, when a remand will be asked for by the police.
