BOWLING.
CANTERBURY CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. Th© annual meeting of the Canterbury Bowling Club was held on Thursday evening. Mr F. J. Barlow (president) occupied tho chair, and therewas a large attendance. The annual report and baknee-sheet wero read. A precis of the- report has already been published. The receipts during tho year were stated as being £12(38 12s Sd, and tho expenditure £1235 16s lid, leaving a credit balance of £32 15s 9d. Th© President, m moving the adoption of tho report and balajice-sheet, congratulated tlio club on their excellent position, and the acquisition of the new green. Mr M. J. Brown seconded tlio motion, and called attention to tbe fact that the club had speait t»me £700 in moving to their new quarters. Their assets were worth about £1100. ajul against that there was about £300- of liabilities. Ho felt sure that if the members only cam© forward to help them under the proposod system of members lending £5 each to tlio club, repayable as funds accrued, they would be in a gcod position. Those members who lent tho £5 to tho club could come in as foundation members at £2 2s per 3*oar, instead of £2 10s. As funds were received they would pay off these loans by ballot. With (sixty members lending £5 each their liabilities would be covered. Mr Barlow explained that tho proposal meant that tho club would be able to pay off £30 or £10 per year from the loans by members. When this was paid off the club would be in a strong financial position, and able to add to its improvements. By having two greens they would be «blo to give the new green a spell, and they would always havo a good turf to play on. Hfi thought that they would start- the now season with a largo number of new members, as they had over forty propositions for membership. Tho report and balance-sheet wero adopted. Certain smondmonts lin tho rules suggested by tho Registrar, in order to bring tho chib under The Unclassified Societies Act, were adopted. The elect-ion of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr James Greig; vice-president, Mr W. iSey; hon. secretary, Mr F. A. Sexton; treasurer, Mr Charles Hill; committee, Messrs M. S. Brown, F. J. Barlow, J. Thomson, J. Clark, and T. Rallinsha.w; delegates to the North Canterbury Bowling Centre, Messrs F. J. Barlow and J.
