MINISTERING CHILDREN'S LEAGUE.

Some time ago, it will be remembered, the Her. Edward Fitzgera'd, representing the Countess of Meath, president of the. Ministering, Children's League, gstv-o an address in t<lio cchofiiroom or St. Luke's church in the interests of the. I/oague, a flourishing branch of which has, through the energy of the Rev. W. W. Sedgwick, existed in the pariah for come time. A wesk or so ago a "Press" representative met Mr Fitzgerald on a launch on Lake Rotorua, where both were holiday-making. Mr Fitzgerald is very pleased' with the result of his minion through the colony, several new branches of rtho League having been formed. In Greymouth a new branch has been inaugurated under the presidency of Archdeacon Yorke. In Hokitika there is a flourishing branch. In Nelson several meetings were held, and a branch wps formed, with Mrs Miileß, wife of the Bishop of Nelson, as president. Seven meetings were hold in Wellington—four in schools and two in parishes—and a branch, under the presidency of Mies Coat<«, was started. In . New Plymouth a branch, under the presidency of Archdeacon Cole, was formed. Mr FitzgoraJd found that the idea behind the League immediately commended itseTi to a!il to whose notice, it wns brought. Indeed, that personal eorvice to the unfortunate, rather than money contribution, is the true test cf real oliaritfl'blenes, c goes without saying. Money contributions do not alwoyp, cr even frequently, mean any conr-cious effort or self-denial to those who make them— personal service always d-ces. The League has now a gocd foo>ung in th's country, and should spread rapidly, but it ifi cad.'y in need of an energeHc orgauising secretary for tho colony.
