Mr Tripp, M-r Hudson, Mr A. W. Rutherford (Montroso), Mr M. D'Arcy, and Mr and Mrs Barnes left town yesterday. Mr and Mra Park, Mr and Mrs Loudon, Mr C. C. Smith and Mr G. Guthrio left for Wellington by the Pateena last night. Mr and Airs C. R. Smith and Mr L. A. Dreyfus wcro passengers for Dunodin by the Waikare yesterday. Mr Benjamin left by tho same steamer for Melbourne.
Mr Orton Stevens, Mr R. M. Laing, Mr Boag and Mrs P. Studholme, left by the Moeraki for Wellington yesterday Dr. Edith Brown, .Mrs and Mjs3 Zachaniah, Major and Mrjs- Winter, Mr H. L. Bowker, Mr Ingrain. Mr L. Wilson (Toddington), Mr and Mrs C. E. Brown (Lyttelton), and Mr C. Hollia (Lyttelton), were passengers for Sydney by the Moeraki yesterday. Mr A. R. Hardy lett for Dunedin yesterday. Air Urampton (Cheviot) was ta passenger by tho North express last evening for Christchurch, en route for Wellington, where ho will represent the Ashley district of Oddfellows at the conference of Friendly Societies, which opene in Wellington on Monday. Mr G. Gibbs Jordan lias been appointed organist and choir-master of St. John's Church of England church, Rongiora, having resigned bis position at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. At the annual social of the employees of tho Orown Brewery Co.. held in the Oddfellows' Hall on fhursday, a presentation was made- to three or the employees who had been in the service of the company for over twenty years. Messrs Sydney Griffiths, Joseph Kermede, and Robert - E-wing were each presented by the directors of the Company with a handsome tea and coffee soryioe suitably engraved. The presentation was made by the managing director, the Hon. C. Louisson, who incidentally mentioned that there were five employees -whose united time with, the Company totalled one hundred and fifty years. Mr J. Rowley is leaving far Auckland after serving thirty-nine years in tho Lands and Survey Department, Christchuroh. Hβ has been presented by his fellow officers with a handbonie silver ealver, ac a slight token of the esteem in which lie is held. Mr F. Busoh, who is removing from Rangiora to Ambertey, was entertained by tho stewardfl of the North Canterbury Jockey Club and the Ohoka Jockey Club on Thursday evening, and presented with a cigar holder, a cigarette holder and a cigar case. Miss Marion Strang, M.A., Leader of the Roslyn Presbyterian Young Women's Bible Class, has accepted an appointment on the etaff of tho Neleon Girls' College. Mr J. F. Scott, a well-known Dunedrn artist, has left for Wellington, where he intends u> pursue his calling for a time, prior to a return to the Old Country. Tho Dunedin Swimming Club presented Mr H. Thompson with a dinnerset and a hanging lamp on the eve of his departure for Chrietchurch. Reference was made to the good -work by Mr Thompson in all branches of sport. Mr William Young, Town Clerk of Inveroargill for ten yeare, has resigned owing to ill-health, and has been grant ed leave of absence till the end of the year on full salary. Mr Young was previously manager of the Inveroargill Branch of tho Colonial Bank.
