His Excellency the Governor will pay a visit to tho Exhibition buildings today with the Inhibition Executive Commissioners. Sir Isadora Spidraan, who is in charge of the collection of ifritish and Continental picturee for the Exhibition Art Gallery, recommends that this building be lined with "l>urkip' ! of a niaroon colour, a specimen of which he has forwarded for tho approval of the Fine Arte Committee. The matter was considered by a meeting of thus committee, be!d hi the Art Gallery on Saturday afternoon, end it was dec ded to compare the c«t with that of d.stempertiig the walls, aa provided for in the contract, and, if not too expensive, to recommend the adoption of Sir l£odore'e suggestion. Preliminary entries are now being received for the Band Contest, vvhicn is to be held in February, 1907, in connection with the Exhibition, and several wore received during the past week. Tho Canadian-Pacifio Railroad Company have advieed the Executive Com? mitsioners that arrangements have been made by them, in conjunction with the Southern Pacific Railroad Company, whereby exhibits for tiie >»ew Zealand international Exhibition ehall be charged full tanlf nates on the American and Canadian railroads to ports of shipment and on boiia fulo returned exhibits half rates only will be charged, provided the en mo exhibitß havo originally paid the full rates outwards. Mr J. B. Armstrong has been appointed a member of the Horticultural and Landscape Gardening Committee. Mr Armstrong's knowledge- of fernfi w 11 be very useful in connection with the arivingementfl of tho fernery. Mr D. C. Mclntyre telegraphs from Gisborne that the mooting called in connection with organising a local representation at the Exhibition wae vrry large and ontliufiiafitip, and the GlslK>rne Committee have arranged to apply for 1200 feet of space. The adjourned meeting of the representatives of local bodies and associations, to make arrangement** for the Canterbury Court, will be hold in the Agricultural and Pastoral Rooms on Thursday next, at 2.30 p.m.
