Canterbury should be cut up tlie same as burton and Tiuiaru. .Mr Friedlander said they had nothiog to fuar in going into competition with North Canterbury as a whole. A.shburton was the largest grain-growing district, and the second largest wool-pro-ducing districtj in the whole of New Zealand, and if the products of the . country were fully ropneented tiiey r/ould nxake a good display. ilr Stitt, Mr iteid, a-nd Mr Dickie each spoke in favour of having all ttbo Canterbury exhibits displayed in one court. Mr Gray explained that eeverei of the large trade exhibits would probably, not bo included in tfhe Oanterbuxy court. The oompetitions would bo princapally in agricultural end paetoral producta and in the early liistory eeo- . tioivs. Air Coward said tho members of tho ' /Agricultural end Paetoral Association weiro unaaioioiisly in favour of one big , i - court- for the whole of Canterbury. : On tlie motion of the M*yqr, seconded by 3lr Upton, it was unanimously resolved tliat AcJiburton fall in with the "; riews of the delegates in liaving ono 1 court for the whole of Canterbury, provided the Ashburton and Timaru eachibits wore shown in separate bays. On the suggestion of Mr Gray, a- subcommittee was appointed to act with the Kxecutire Working Committee. . The Mayor and Mr Stitt were appointed a 6ub-committee. On the motion of Mr Thoi'jae, seconded by Mr Sdoock, it Wias agreed—"Thai it_ be a recommendation to the Commiftsianera to endeavour to have the frown meat and tlie Kaiapoi Woollen Mills exhifits shown in the Canterbury Court, or ac near thereto as possible. ; Mr Gray briefly thanked the Aehburton Executive for meeting himself and Mr Overton at co early an bour, «nd felt sure that when the eub-com-mittece oame together they would work with the Mime unanimity and liermony that had characterised the meeting that morning.
