At the las-t meeting of the Templcton Read Board, Me?isrs Witty (chairman), Leslie, Carr. ar.d Davies v. ore pre-ent. A petition from residents near tho Waimakariri river was presented, asking that the Kaiapoi Junction road be opened for traffic right" up to the river. Tho matter was referred to the Riccarton Road Board, who had control of the road. Tho Di-triet Engineer of New Zealand Railways wrote, enclosing a permit for the Board to drain storm water through tho railway at Scckburn. The Christ church M"at Company wrote concerning the closing of an old read and the opening of a new one at their expen.se. Mr Geo. Harper also wrote on the same -subject. It. was decided to instruct Mr Harper to proceed with the nec-'twary preliminaries for closing the road. ft was decided to draw tho Health Officer"-, attention to the disposal of blood from tho Al>attoirs, and Mr | Cl.'gg'-s attention to his method of carry - I ing refuse to his manure works.
