OAMARU GRAIN MARKET.
Our Oamaru correspondent writes:— The market hero is firm, and there is a steady demand for prime milling wheat. Millers, indeed, seem to be anticipating that the supply of this grade will not be a large one, and they aro buying
f steadily. Tuscan is being pui-chaeed in j fair aized parcels at 3s at country staI tions, lees commission, and at 3e, delivered in Oamaru, net. Mixed linee of velvet and Tuscan are also- being purchased at _ on both the above terms. Velvet has been bought at 2s lid and in one or two cases at 2& ll.d, while for red chaff up to 2e llu has al_*o been paid, at sidings, less commission, and _ls -i-_d, net for hret grade. For one straight live of red chaff a-s much as Hi, at sid.ng, le_ commission, was given a week ago. The market for oats i*» also firm, in consequence of enrjuiries to till up : Home shipments, and. there is a fair amount ot business passing at Is 7_<l to Is Sid for Gartons, which make up the bulk of the sales, le 7d to Is 7Jd for Danish, and Is 8d to Is 9d for Duns. I Prime barley is in request, but the supply hero is very short, and the bul_ of what is offering is worth from 3s 3a to ;*& 6d, f.o.b. j Potatoes have been sold at £8 10s at country stations, net, and at £10 f.0.b., for shipment north. In the meantime ■ transactions are not on a large scale. A fair amount of Cocksfoot ;s changling hands at 3Jd to 4d per lb for me-dium to good t-eed.
