Serious consequences were not expected, but the woman died. The driver of the cart—Robert Brown—was arrested after the accident for drunkeruiAs and fined. An inquest on McConoclue was held today. The medical evidence was to the effect; that' from the injuries on the trotoan's hip and thigh, it w*s evident that th« ©art and horse had gone over her. The injuries would probably not litre proved fetal to a person in ordinary health, but in the case of a woman, of her age, they had no doubt hastened death. The jury returned a verdict "that the deceased met her death through having been knocked down by a horse and cart, driven by one Robert Brown, he being unfit to control such horse and cart, being under the influence of liquor." Brown was at once arrested on a charge of manslaughter.
