The '"Star's" Rarotonga correspondent writes that reports to hand from the Northern Islands show that leprosy is making headway in the Islands of Alakihiki, Rakahanga, and Penrkyn, while at Palmereton Island there is one .«m----picious case, a boy. As a safeguard, the resident Commissioner has issued orders prohibiting, uitder heavy penalties, the introduction to rhe Cook Islands by the master of any vessel of a person known or eu.'-ipected of being leprous. In addition, tlie Commissioner has a-ppointeil places of isolation for persons aifected with leprosy in Penhryn, Makihiki, llakahanga, and Palmeirston. Tho report of Dr. Pomaire is awaited with much interest. It is felt that strenuous measures must be taken to cope with the difeease.
