CELEBRATIONS IN AUSTRALIA.

(Received May 24th, 11.56 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 24. Favoured with fine weather, tho Empire Day celebrations woro highly successful. There were enthusiastic demonstrations of school children, flags wero unfurled, patriotic speeches were delivered by leading men, appropriate musical programmes, and sports. The city and harbour wero gay with bunting. Tho statues of Queen Victoria wero decorated. Speaking at the Lord Mayor's luncheon in honour of tho occasion, tho Governor said that ho tliought that Empire Day would do an immense amount of good to the whole Empire, drawing all parts together and instructing young Australia as to her heritage. Mr Carruthers and others delivered patriotic speeches. (Received May 25th, 1.7 a.m.) There were successful Empire Day Celebrations in tho other States.
