WEST COAST BAND CONTEST.

(P—ESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) GREYMOUTH, May 23. The West Coast band contest commenced at the Opera House this morning, when the solo competitions wero judged. The judge, Mr G. P. Laidlaw, is bearing the cornet soloists tonight. The marching and test pieces take place to-morrow, and the results oFTKe whole will ho made known in the evening. Some 200 bandsmen are taking part in the contest. Tho weather continues fine but cold.
