The banking reUirns'for the September quarter rhmv the following: (free) £8.996,885, deposits (fixed) £8,950,358, discounts £2,030,626, open advances £12,463,933, notos in circulation £1,129,938, coin and "bullion £3,921,930. As compared with the June quarter, the* deposits havo increnced over £80,000, but the fwo deposits (credit balances of currvnt accounts) have been reduced by £584,773. Discounts have decreased £29,000, opftn advances have increased £82,082. Th« net result of those operations is that 'Jio aggregate credit balance of the community is reduced by £557,967 during the Keptainber quarter. The bank assets and liabilities for the September quaj-tcr are as follows:—1901, eesete £18,329,126, liabilities £17,453,500; 1902, £18,729,740 -ir.-l £18,976.675; 1903, £20,021.295 an-1 £20,883,082; 1904,- £20,530,539 ani £20.547,509.' Tho assets ha\-e increaiie-J in tlie tw«lv« months by over £511,000, while the liabilities show a. reduction of £336,000. The combined advances for tho year show an increase of £1,003,392, an expansion far in advance of depoeits, which havo been increased by nearly £750,000. -
