IN SEARCH OF A MEDIUM.
A widow living in the Avenue de la Republique, Paris, recently wanted to get married, but at the last moment she felt nfraid that her husband's ghost might be offended. Accordingly she consulted a> medium, who said that St. Joseph, Ashtaroth, and Beelzebub would havo to be interviewed on the matter. For three days and tliree nighte the widow was shut up in a darkened room, while Madame Blank, the medium, went through incantations. Still the husband's ghost did not appear, altliougk nearly £6 had been paid to the medium. The latter finally declared that the ghost would turn up if the widow placed IOOOf in gold and all her jewels in a cupboard.in ono'of her own rooms. This she did, and the medium captured the lot and disappeared, leaving a letter on a table signed by the husband's ghost. Tlie mysterious missive ran, "Good luck to my successor! I feel sure that he will have a fine time with such a *>illy old goose.as you." ; The widow has employed .detectives to find the missing medium.
