A RAILWAY MISHAP.

AUCKLAND, August 5. A somewhat serious accident, resulting in the derailment of about half of a goods train, comprising in all thirty different •iees of occurred on the Frank-ton-Morrinsville section of the Auckland railways to-day. The train to which the mishap v occurred was a goods train from the Frankton station to Morrkville, and the waggons were principally loaded with artificial manures. When about three mike from -Morrinsville Station one of the waggons in the front portion of the train left Uie rails, and carried off the trade with it fourteen others. Fortunately the train was travelling at a steady speed, and by promptly turning off steam and applying the brakes it wae brought to a ttand•till. .. A considerable amount of damage was occasioned to the line, and also to the waggons. For a distance of about ten chains the line we* badly twisted and torn up, while the waggons, which were < prevented from completely overturning by' the length of Jthe train, were forcibly thrown together and severely strained.
