ADDINGTON.

The annual meeting of the householders was the largest ever held in the district. Mr J. Brown presided. Tlie balance-sheet showed a credit of £22 16s. The school roll was 523, with an average attendance of 459. Tho Inspectors' report was highly satisfactory. The swimming classes, under the tuitioh, of Miss Ormandy and Mr Kennedy, had* a .most successful season. There was a strong f_eling of resentment regarding the Board's action in proposing to limit the roll number of the school, and the following tesolution was pass-ed and carried unanimously:—"That this meeting of householders emphatically protests against the action of tlie Board in not providing accommodation for tlie scholarattending the school, and urgently requests that the Government, through the Board, b3 again approached for the immediate relief, as the present accommodation is totally inadequate for the roll strength, especially in the infant school, and is having a serious effect on the welfare of the Bchool, and with an increasing population in the district, the pressure and overcrowding is causing considerable inconvenience." A resolution in favour of tlie teachers' _uperannuation fund was carried. Votes of thanks were passed to tlie. Rev. W. S. Bean and the teaching staff. The following are the new Committee: — Messrs N. K. Bowden (chairman), R. Bell, J. Down, J. Spiller, J. Hooper, J. Moore, R. Leatham, J. Clarke, J. Lee.
