CORRESPONDENCE.
A VOTE ON LEADING FRUITS. TO THE EDITOB OF Till* PRESS. Sir.-—ln view of the possibilities of enlarged export of apples, and in the interests! of those people making new orchards, would you mind inviting opinions to be sent in to you of the best dozen of apples, each for dessert and cooking, the Bame in regard to pears, gooseberries, and plums, the writers to state, whether early or late. It is a subject in which most householders are interested, and one in which there are ditferences of opinion. I think there are many orchardists, professional men, and capable amateurs who will respond to such an application from you, and if you would tabulate tlie result and print in your columns there are hundreds who will feel obliged to you. If this bo done prior to the Fruit Show some direct advantage would accrue. It occurs to mc whilst writing that, should you not carry out this suggestion, probably a selected committee appointed by the Show authorities would have such a list made, and on exhibition at the coming Fruit Show.—Yours, etc., AMATEUR. [We shall be glad to publish lists of fruits. Tho Committee of the Horticultural Society might also, with advantage, adopt our correspondent's suggestion. —Ed. "Press."]
