(PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) X THAMES, April 22. The survey of twenty-fire thousand acres of land in Piako has been- commenced. As soon as it is completed it will be thrown open for'settlement. It is a portion of a block of a quarter of a njiliion, acres between Thames and Wa&ato. Fox. the remainder a comprehensive drainage scheme, must be instituted, the details of which have already been-placed before the Minister of Lands. The Government has purchased a block of private land in the goldfields area, placing additional facilities before miners,, who v will be enabled to follow their', occupation on the payment of smaller fees. Technical classes have been successfully , established under the Auckland Board of ', Education.
