SENSATIONAL TRAGEDY.
A MAN SHOT DEAD. THE RESULT OF A FEUD. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received April 25th, 1.11 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 24. A sensational tragedy occurred at Leichardt. A feud involving legal proceedings had existed for a considerable time between Alfred Russell, a plumber, and Steward, a local builder and Alderman of the borough, over a house Steward was building for Russell. Yesterday evening Russell awaited Steward's return from the city, and walking within a few paces of him shot him dead through the head in the street, in the presence of tcveral passers-by, and quietly walked away. When arrested a large steel plate was found across his breast. He explained that this was adopted as a precaution, as he feared Steward would shoot him. As a consequence of Russell's threats Steward was always armed. His dead hand grasped a fully loaded revolver partly withdrawn from his pocket.
