MR PHILP'S VIEW OF THE SITUATION.
BRISBANE, April 23. Mr Philp, the Leader of the Opposition, saw nothing to regret in the downfall of the Federal Ministry. It never did much for Queensland. The best thing for Australia would be a coalition of Messrs Deakin and Reid, forcing the Labour Party into opposition. The best alternative to that would be a purely labour Ministry having to take the responsibility of its measures. MR WATSON SUMMONED. MELBOURNE, April 23. Lord Northcote has summoned Mr Watson. MR WATSON TO FORM A MINISTRY. MELBOURNE, April 23. Mr Watson has undertaken to form a Ministry, and has been allowed till Wednesday to do. so. MR WATSON TO HAVE A FREE HAND. (Received April 25th, 1.11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, April 24. A caucus of the Labour Party, after acceptance of the commutation to form a Ministry, unanimously decided to give Mr Watson a free hand to choose within or without the Party. •
