♦ (I'BESS ASSOCIATION TKLEGRAMS.) HOKITIRA. April 22. A.** the Torgauten this afternoon was clearing the bar she shipped v. heavy sea, which washed a snwll hawser overboard. It fouled the propeller, and this brought the engines to n standstill. Tlie vesrcl then drifted about a quyter of a mile north of tho bar, and although anchors Mere dropped, the vessel gradually set in towards the beach. At low wafer she was hard aground. The vessel is uninjured, and hopes are held out that she may be got off to-morrow. HOKXITKA. April 23. The Torgauten's position has altered but little from last night's tide. At present' it. lias not been decided what course will be taken to float the vessel, though most' probably launching will be resorted to. The owners in Norway are being communicated with. No cargo has yet been discharged. A tangled rope round the propeller was the cause of the vessel going ashore. It was cut away at low water, when the vessel was almost high and dry. There was a great mass of rope round tlie «»crew, showing how completely the meant of power was held fast. Tlie ship suffered no injury, but a good deal of water" was taken aboard from the seas last tide, WELLINGTON, April 22. The Mana left here to-night with launching gear, and will to-morrow morning endeavour to re-float the Kapiti, now aground at Patea.
