THE AUSTRALIAN SHIPPING AGREEMENT. The steamship owners discussed the deferred consideration of the seamen's request for the extension of the shipping agreement. TASIMANIAN POLITICS. HOBART, September 18. The Council has rejected the Land Tax Amendment and the Assessment Bill, leaving Ministers to define the amended programme. There is talk of the Ministers appealing to the country, but this is hardly possible, owing to the constitution of the new Parliament. SALE OF PHIL MAY'S DRAWINGS. (Received September 19th, 1.18 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 18. Mr Phil May's original drawings, published in the "Bulletin,"' were sold by auction. Four hundivd and seventy-iJix were ■old, at an average price of three guinea?. The highest price was 16-J guineas.
