The accident was due to the. driver mistaking the signals during his flurry over the gauge glass bursting,. EXPERIMENTS IN RAINMAKING. Experiments conducted by Dr. McCarthy to produce rain in drought districts are attracting attention. The. method is in send up columns of gas obtaimd from ('-.erniea'p, the nature of wliich is a secret. If this ifl done contmuouely for 32 hours it will produce rain over a range of niritty miles. It is alleged that on an estate near Ingle-wood an inch of rain fell as the remit of the experlmert.
