SPREYDON.
The Spreydon Road Board met on the 7th inst., when there were present Messrs T. Barry, J. Brown, J. A. Clarke, and C. W. Comer. An apology was received from Mr J. P. W. Lee. Mr John Brown was elected chairma_ for the coming year. The clerk reported tliat the re-formation of Dunn street was completed, and it was decided to put twenty yards of shingle per chain on it. It was decided to approach tlie Christchurch City Council with a view of carrying the water into Jackson's Creek at two places on Crescent road, and laying a new culvert at the junction of Somerfield road with Strickland street. A reply to tho Board's absolute refusal to accept any responsibility in the roads in Tarawahi Hamlet in their present state was received from the chief engineer of roads, to the effect that the roads had been declared district roads. The Chairman and Mr Comer were authorised to make further enquiries and state the lowest amount the Board will accept to put the roads in the same condition as those adjoining, and the extension of the bridge to the full width of tho road. The clerk was authorised to give a certificate for the work done on the new streets in the Studholme Estate, and to grant an application to connect a property with the main sewer, but to demand a longer notice in future. Mr J. P. W. Lee and the clerk were appointed delegates to represent the Board at the conference convened by the Selwyn County Council re small birds nuisance. The clerk was instructed to make arrangements for a ranger for the district, and compel all persons to trim their fences overhanging the roads, and to clear the roads of gorse.
