MOUNT BUTT.
The monthly meeting of the Board was held on the 4th inst. Present —Messrs Millton, Morgan, Power, and Ward. Mr Million was elected chairman for the ensuing year. Mr Lane wrote agreeing to accept £4 4s in settlementlb of his account. In the matter of the shingle fan at Mount Hutt, it was decided to take a legal opinon as to the liability of tho Board. u_o to ask Messrs McLean if they would assist tho Boar- in dealing with the shingle. An application from Air T. Cronin fk>r a refund of his deposit on contract forfeited was not granted. The clerk was instructed to see the manager at Mount Harding re taking shingle from the Dry Creek, also to draw the attention of Mr Nee and the water ranger to the overflow on to the road of water-race in Mr Nee's section. Mr Gilliam applied for an extension of time on his contract for shingling, consideration of ■the same being postponed. R- Middleton's tender for shingling the back track Marawiti, at Is 5d per yard, was accepted. Accounts amounting to £39 lis 8d were passed for payment. The annual meeting of ratepayers was held on tiie 4th inst., a bare quorum being present. The state-rent of account- for the past year was read and adopted, subject to audit. Mr Millton drew the attention of ratepayers to the necessity of united action for the destruction oil small birds, pointing out that the County Council were prepared to supply poisoned grain and to purchase birds. Mr Cameron proposed, and. Mr At—gton seconded a vote) of tb_iks to the Board for their past services, which was carried.
