WAIHI, MAY* 9.
Two men, named W. Cornthwaite and Parry, engaged in the No. 5 shaft of the Waihi miue, fell some distance. Parry was killed outright, and Cornthwaite sustained terrible cuts on the head and other injuries. He is not expected to recover. The accident occurred at midnight. Both men were well-known and highly respected. If the Waihi mine fatality results in the death of Cornthwaite as'well as Parry, it will make a total of five miners killed in the Waihi mine in the last five weeks, in addition to one man who lost his life in the Talisman mine. There has been an extraordinary run of mining accidents recently, resulting hi a very large total of claims "upon the au_dent insurance companies. DUNEDIN, May 9. John Munro ,a farmer at Toiro, near Balcluthu. has died from injuries sustained through being caught in a reaper and binder. MARTON, May 9. Mr Harry Henderson, a well-known flourmiller. was killed at 1.30 to-day by a kick on the bead from a horee.
Francis Henry Healey, who on Thursday was admitted to the hospital suffering from injuries received by falling on the names of thi harness of "horses he was in charge of on the Fendalton road, died at the Hospital at five o'clock on Saturday morning. An inquest will be held. Mrs Thomas, of Spreydon, slipped while walking yesterday morning, and falling broke her "thigh. "At the hdspital last evening she was reported to be progressing satisfactorily.
