Gow, the Government commercial agent in South Africa-, advises the Industries and Commerce Department by cable, dated Capetown, Aprii 27th hiM.. that prime table' potatoes arc worth £11 per ton ex ship's flings at Durban, Port Elizabeth, and Capetown.
Messrs Dalgety acd Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from their London Office, under date Apnl 28th: —''The frozen meat market is depressed. We quote prime Canterbury lamb, 32 to 401b, at 4j{d to 4|d per lb; other New Zealand lamb. 4|d to 4Jd. Tliom has b<-en no business doing eincc last advice*. We quote Canterbury mutton, crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 55 to 651b, fair average quality, at 4gd per ib; North Islancf mutton," 3gd for lb. Poor demand for frozen beef. To-day's quotations are 4i"d for hindquarters and Zl<\ for fore, (luartcre."
