Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association, a* a meeting last night, attended by delegates from Taranaki, Wairarapa, Fealding, and Palmerston, passed resolutions recommending the Association, in connection with the issue of the second volume of the herd book, to refuse to register names duplicating others already taken by breeders, nnd "with a view of simplifying tho registration, breeders ehoidd register a prefix with the Association." Fully 300 applications have been received for registration in tho first volume of the herd book. WELLINGTON. April 4. William Miller Woodhead, charged with the theft of money belonging to the Taranaki Sawmil'ers' Association, was this morning sentenced to three years' imprisonment. In the nction, Reid v the Bank of New South Wales and other.?, a claim for damages and recession of contract, judgment went for def ; ndar.±B with partial costs. The Wellington Trades' Unions havehanded to the Wellington Furniture Trades' Union £150. and promises of more if required to asrist the Auckland Furniture Trades' Union in the dispute with the employers. In tlio action Reid v the Bar;!; of New South Wales and others, claim £6800 damages for misrepresentation in connection with the Rile of a property, the Chief Justice, in giving judgment, held that the evidence to equally balanced, and as the onus of proof rested with the plaintiffs, he must- give the defendants the benefit of tha doubt. Costs, however, would not be allowed any of the defendants esuspt the Bank, and it only received £75 and Court for*. '
