THE LAWYERS' CRICKET- MATCHES.
Practically tne who'.e of the legal profes-! son of Christchurch took part in these giiuie.s at Hagley Park yesterday, most as players, the reel" as spectators. The form .shown throughout'ths day was unusually fnud, and keen txcitement was kept up. From half-past ten till six, with intervals i for lunch ;tnd afternoon tea, about sixty-six phtyers thoroughly enjoyed themselves .Mr' T. (J. Kuxeli, President of the Canterhury Law Society, took the chair at the lunch, and Mrs Russell, assisted by a stall' of young ladles, took charge of tea. 'lheiv was a large public attendance, and everything passed tiff" uinst successfully. Mr M. Nalder, organiser of the matches, wai congratulated on all sides, aid the fixture will probab'y be annual. Two matches were played by mtinbeis of the Livr SoI uety and'one by clerks in legal offices.
